In 2017, the volume of investments in the economy of Kyrgyzstan from the UK increased by 44 times compared with 2016, Kyrgyz Economy Minister Artem Novikov told during a meeting with British Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Robin Ord-Smith.
“Great Britain is one of the largest investor countries, and the volume of foreign direct investment from Britain for the first 9 months of 2017 amounted to more than 27.6 million dollars and increased by 44 times compared to the same period in 2016,” – said Novikov.
Robin Ord-Smith said that “last year we had positive steps in our relationship, and our task is to build relationships not only in the economic sphere, but also in other areas.
The diplomat added that there is potential for development of trade and investment cooperation between the countries.
“My job is to help in this, and as an ambassador I need to provide more information to our business about Kyrgyzstan, as many companies are not aware of the opportunities of Kyrgyzstan,” Ord-Smith said.
Novikov said that for 10 months of 2017 the trade turnover between the Kyrgyz Republic and Great Britain made $ 15.1 million.
